Jatinder ‘Jay’ Cheema has worked extensively as a legal practitioner in various High Courts in India, the Supreme Court of India, Regulators, and Arbitral Tribunals. He has diversified experience in litigation and dispute resolution. He has assisted the Parliament of Canada as a legal counsel on an ethics investigation and drafted free-zone laws of a Middle East Country.

He currently serves on the US-India Gas Task Force constituted by the Department of Energy, United States, along with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. In addition, he also serves on the US-India Low Emission Gas Task Force, convened under US India Strategic Energy Partnership (SCEP), a joint venture of the Government of India and the Department of Energy, US.

He has also drafted the current Master Revenue Sharing Contract (MRSC) and related policy documents under the Hydrocarbon Exploration Licensing Policy (HELP).

Jatinder Cheema (Jay) has 30 years of standing at the Bar in India and is also a Barrister & Solicitor qualified to practice law in Ontario (Canada), and as an Advocate in the SADC Region (Africa). He has worked extensively as a legal practitioner in various High Courts in India, the Supreme Court of India, Regulators, and Arbitral Tribunals. He is a lawyer and counsel. Therefore, he has diversified experience in Litigation and Dispute Resolution. Jatinder advises project developers, Investors, Regulators, Suppliers & Contractors on diverse commercial/ transactional, utilities, and infrastructure advisory. He also deals on a regular basis with the regulators on various regulatory and policy issues. He has been a partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (New Delhi), and other national and international law firms (top 10 global law firms). Apart from his professional engagements, Jatinder is a visiting faculty at the prestigious IIM (Lucknow), Management Development Institute (MDI) (Gurgaon), and the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (A Government of India Undertaking), Manesar where he lectures on recent developments in M&A, Private Equity, and Corporate Laws.

SKOCH India Law Award

SKOCH Award, independently instituted in 2003, is India’s honest civilian honour conferred by an independent organisation as a third party assessment.
